If Bill Gates was President of the United States
So, not long now until the US elections in November. I’ll admit, being a Brit living in Canada, I’m not quite up to speed on who the best candidate for you guys is - both Obama and McCain seem to have valid points in their rhetoric (as well as some lame ones as well, but that’s par for the course in politics). Hopefully whoever you choose makes the right decisions for the next 4 years, compared to some of the truly horrendous ones of the outgoing fella. But all this got me thinking - instead of the proper elections that we’re about to experience, wouldn’t it be cool if someone like Microsoft chief Bill Gates was President instead? Sure, it might be a bit nerdy, but think of some of the cool things he could bring to the table: * No longer worrying about whose hand is on the Big Red Button of Destruction. We’d simply have a super brainy computer deciding whether or not global destruction is the way to spend today (after asking permission to open the Button door first, obviously). * Xbox Live for everyone in the western world (and even beyond)! I’ve nothing against either the PlayStation 3 or Nintendo Wii, but personally I just feel Microsoft has the whole online console gaming package down to a tee. Now, instead of a dubious decision to invade a country because it’s oil should be ours - I mean, the ruler is a dictator - we can all simply go online and send in our Ghost Recon squads or Marcus Phoenix to deal with the situation. Victors shall be awarded Microsoft Challenge Points and control of the disputed territory until the next week’s battle. * No more cock-ups on speeches - Gates would simply get a patch made and repair any damage made by comments made on air while unaware that he was rigged up. I’m sure there are many more areas that having Bill Gates as President would open up for everyone to enjoy, some much better than my suggestions. One thing’s for sure, though - I think it’d be kinda cool to have a nerd in charge for a change. So, yeah - Bill Gates for President of the United States! |
